Prior to installing the floor

Checking the stability of the subfloor prior to installing the floor

You should check the stability of your subfloor in advance to ensure professional installation of your floor. Noticeable buckling of the subfloor is not uncommon in old buildings especially. Appropriate stabilisation will then be necessary. We show you in this video what you need to look out for and whom you can contact for advice and assistance.

Checking the evenness prior to installing the floor

It is important to install your floor on a level subfloor so that your newly laid floor keeps its radiance for a long time and no dents or cracks appear. The evenness check shows you whether your subfloor is suitable for installation or whether some rework will be required. Unevenness in excess of 2mm must namely be compensated using levelling compounds. We show you in this video what you need to look out for and how you can perform such a check. The permitted manufacturer-dependent dimensional deviations that can be observed in the course of normal and careful work are defined in DIN 18202 in the form of tolerances.

Check the surface strength (hammer blow test) before gluing down the floor

The surface strength of the subfloor must be tested thoroughly before installing your floor. A hammer blow test provides an indication of the strength of the surface. If the test is successful, you can start to glue down your floor. We show you in this video how to perform the hammer blow test to check the strength of the surface.
