“Asko is my life.“
You could hear these words during the speech given by the Chief Executive Manager and the company’s co-owner, Ing. Jan Hrdina at the beginning of the gala evening held on Friday, 8 April 2016 in the beautiful Municipal House built in the Art Nouveau architecture style.
The gala evening was organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the company originally founded by Jan’s father, Ing. Vladimír Hrdina. Mr. Hrdina, the organizer of the gala evening was very pleased to see how many people arrived to this event. Almost six hundred guests visited the main Smetana Hall situated in the Municipal House where they could enjoy a busy program until the late-night hours. Among the guests, he could welcome the company’s important customers representing big, mid-sized and small flooring companies from Bohemia, Moravia and Slovakia. As for suppliers, he also welcomed some big companies active in the wood manufacturing industry both in the Czech Republic and abroad and, also, in the flooring industry, such as Amorim – Wicanders, the manufacture of cork floors, representatives of Haro, Kronotex and Rooms, Kronopol, Forbo, Floover and others.
A highlight of the gala evening was a film about Asko a.s. that was presented right after the first words of the CEO. There was utter silence in the Smetana Hall as everybody watched the beginning of the film showing Mr. Hrdina walking at the central logistics warehouse in Uhříněves where the floors of the above mentioned brands are stored. The CEO talked about the company’s history, its establishment and development. During the film, some employees talked about their memories, happiness and what Asko means to them. It is obvious that Asko has always been a family-run business and this is also reflected in its philosophy. When finished, the film received a well-deserved ovation and it showed the spirit of the company and its founder.
The gala evening was a great opportunity to thank the employees who have been working hard for the company since its establishment. To express gratitude for their long-lasting engagement and hard work on shared visions and values, these employees, the founders – Mr. Hrdina and Mrs. Hrdinová and Mr. Jan Hrdina – the Chief Executive Office cut a cake. The cake was made in the shape of a tree stump and it was yet another symbol representing the theme of the entire gala evening, i.e. forest, wood and environment. This was followed by another speech given by the CEO when he thanked all the quests for coming and all the employees for their hard work in Asko team colors. Then, he sincerely thanked all the loyal customers and, also, top-quality and significant suppliers; some of them coming from a very distant part of Europe.
Then, the microphone was passed to a well-experienced and beautiful presenter, Tereza Kostková who – with her natural charm – made the gala evening very enjoyable and successful. She said about the event: “I have already hosted a lot of events in this venue, but I have not yet hosted a social dinner with an accompanying program in the Municipal House. It is an honor for me to attend an event like this in such a beautiful venue in the center of Prague.” During the gala evening, the singer, Anna K appeared on the stage with her rock band and brought some life to this beautiful historical venue of the Municipal House. Afterwards, the guests could enjoy the program prepared in the adjoining halls with buffet style refreshments, acrobats shows and wine tasting. In the Rieger Hall, there was a dance studio offering some lessons that were then followed by free live-music dancing enjoyed even by a bit more conservative dancers. There was also a dance performance given by well-known stars from the Stardance Show, Michal Kurtiš and Alice Stodůlková who literally danced their soles off in the Smetana Hall. At the end of the gala evening, the guests were thanked again for coming and we heard some warm words of good-bye. Afterwards, the guests could enjoy the music of a live-music band until the late-night hours.
Mr. Hrdina and Asko itself are engaged in financial support that is offered to other people in need, hence, one part of the evening was designated to charity. For this special occasion, a cheque of CZK 25,000 had been prepared and donated to the project “Světluška” – Nadační fond Českého rozhlasu (Foundation of the Czech Radio). In addition, the guests could purchase a book “Cesta Světla – Jan Ámos Komenský” published by Mr. Hrdina.
According to the responses of the guests that were present and as per the number of thank-you letters received by the company received afterwards, the gala evening organized to celebrate the 25th anniversary of Asko a.s. was a success and lightened up the end of the week and our ever busy work lives. We wish Asko a.s. additional 25 years of success with a team of employees who help to build friendly relationships with the company’s customers and suppliers.
